What is “color analysis” anyway?

Before my training as a color analyst, I heard about color analysis but wasn’t sure on what it actually was.

I kept hearing about different seasons and your undertone but wasn’t quite sure on the benefits of color analysis.

So let me break it down in a simple way possible.

We look at 3 factors in color analysis: undertone, intensity and value.

Undertone is a color under your surface that can range from warm (yellow) to cool (blue).

This is where some people compare gold or silver jewelry (warm vs cool).

Intensity is how clear (bright, vivid) or muted you are.

Value is how much or how low you have depth in you.

We look at all these factors from your features and the one that has the same undertone, intensity and value as you will create the most harmony with you.

There are 4 seasons in color analysis: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.

These all have different undertones, intensity and value.

For example, both Spring and Autumn have a warm undertone but Spring is very vivid & light while Autumn is muted and has depth to its coloring.

There are also flow seasons where 2 seasons are combined into one.

For example, combing Autumn and Winter creates “Deep”.

You will either be one of these seasons or a flow season.

Flow season will usually lean towards one of the 4 seasons which becomes your home season.

For example, if you are mixed with Autumn and Winter but lean towards Autumn, your results will be “Deep Autumn”.

Each season and flow has a different undertone, intensity and value.

And each season and flow has a color palette so all the “reds” and “blues” in your color will look different from other palettes.

And finding the best color palette will help you glow by wearing your colors.

When you wear colors that don't have the same undertone, intensity and value as you, you can look washed out because you’re working against your natural features.

Even with this image above, as someone who has a neutral to warm undertone, the cool red on the right makes me look washed out.

Color analysis is a great tool for you to expand your color palette while loving and wearing colors in a way you didn’t before.

It is also a lifelong tool that you get to keep using.

Because color can seem overwhelming, knowing your colors can actually be easier for you to try different color other than black or neutrals.

If you want to create harmony with color, you can book an online color analysis with me and I will be honored to have your colors analyzed!
